Chennai received heavy rain in the early hours of Sunday. Some parts of the city received around 100mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Chennai would receive moderate to heavy rainfall on Sunday.

Areas on the East Coast Road and the Old Mahabalipuram Road in south Chennai received the highest rainfall with Shollinganallur registering 112mm of rain.
Heavy rain resulted in waterlogging on many roads and in low-lying areas.
Greater Chennai Corporation officials have set up a 24-hour helpline for residents in trouble.
